11+ Entrance Exams
Selective independent schools set their own specific entrance exams. Maths, English, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning are the key components. Some schools will test your child on all of these, while others might only focus on certain of these. Depending on your target school, I will prepare your child in a way tailored for the specifications of the entrance exams they will sit.

Essentially, schools want to see that your child has strong literacy, numeracy and reasoning – the three foundations of all higher learning. It is paramount for the future success of your child's education that they have these skills in place.

Subjects Offered
I offer bespoke 11+ tutoring (in-person within London and online). Much of what is tested is beyond or outside the curriculum. This is why tutoring is so important in order for your child to gain familiarity and perform at their best.

Lessons are booked in blocks of four to ensure steady progress, and I send a short monthly report so parents can track their child’s progress.

Maths
​This paper tests your child’s understanding of key mathematical principles: arithmetic, algebra, geometry, data handling and problem-solving. It is as much a test of their numerical reasoning as their mathematical knowledge.

English
This paper typically consists of a comprehension and a creative writing section. Your child will be expected to interpret a text, analyse literary devices and form structured responses. The writing section is to assess your child's creativity but, more importantly, their SPaG (Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar)

Reasoning
There are 2 types of reasoning papers. Verbal Reasoning consists of mainly word-based problems (synonyms and antonyms, word analogies, letter sequences, and code-breaking exercises), while Non-Verbal Reasoning uses shapes to assess your child's pattern recognition and spatial awareness.
